Your Vision Versus God's

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

Good Morning to you on this crisp winter morning! This morning I'd like to challenge you to think about the vision for your life.

Habakkuk 2:2-3

Then the Lord replied: Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.

From time to time we need to take inventory of our visions because as time goes on we may need to alter them, especially as we mature spiritually and grow closer with the Lord.

Philippians 3:13-16

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you. Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

What is your vision for your life?

To me the next question is the most important one to answer.

Does your vision align with God's vision for your life?

If you are wondering how to determine what God's vision is for you I would encourage you to take some time to ask God to reveal his vision to you. Close your eyes and invite the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart, imagine what he would say to you in this moment and write down everything that comes to you on a piece of paper.

Think about how you are currently living your life, determine if it aligns with what God would want you to do? Are you spending time watching TV shows he doesn't approve of? What about the people you are spending time with, do they lift your spirit and challenge you to walk closer with the Lord? We need to take inventory of our lives so that we can make sure we are not wasting valuable time on things that are not important to God. If you find yourself making excuses as to why it's okay to do things that are not pleasing to God than this is a sign we need to redirect our attention to what is beneficial for us long term and determine if we are hindering our spiritual growth.

2 Peter 1:21

For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

If we find ourselves being convicted than we know we are hearing from God because it will align with Scripture, but if we feel condemned than we know this is from the devil. Make sure you are paying attention to what God is putting on your heart!

Numbers 12:6-8

he said, Listen to my words: When a prophet of the Lord is among you, I reveal myself to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams. But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house. With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the Lord. When then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
