Which View Are You Focusing On?

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

There are many different views that give us different perspectives, you have a birds eye view, political views, our own point of views, but what about the views we experience while driving?

Most of us have heard the saying "the windshield is bigger than the rearview mirror because where we are going is more important than where we have been." How many times have we been focusing on the wrong view? Are you confused about which direction you are going? Perhaps you feel like you forgot the roadmap so you are sitting at a crossroad trying to determine where you are, can you relate?

Can I tell you the most important roadmap you will ever read is the Bible, it's full of guidance and shows us where we will end up depending on which path we decide to take. Proverbs 14:8 The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception. It even tell us which direction to turn every single time, it's about trusting what God is putting on your heart and listening to His still small voice.

Sometimes we are worried that we took a wrong turn so we end up focusing on the rearview mirror too long. Have you missed an exit by not paying attention? I will admit I have done that a time or two....

Isaiah 48:17 This is what the Lord says - your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go.

Friends, we can't allow ourselves to look in the rearview mirror too long or we will lose sight of where we are going. With each view we will gain wisdom and learn valuable lessons, but the most important view is the one God is putting in front of you. He allows us to look back to gain a new perspective of how far we have come, but he doesn't want us to focus on it too long because if we do we will miss the blessings he has in front of us.

Do you have a blind spot? What would you consider yours to be? You know, the one thing we choose to ignore or put off? A bad habit, our weight, is there someone we should forgive but haven't?

We need to determine what our blind spots are and establish a plan to move beyond them.

If you find yourself driving on a dirt road thinking God took you down the wrong road, trust where he is taking you. You may be taking the scenic route which will provide a much richer experience! We need to embrace what is going to be around the next bend instead of fearing it.

Proverbs 3:13 Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding.

Remember God is your roadmap, take Him along with you and you will never get lost!!
