What Would Please You?
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
How many of you read this title and started making a list in your mind? Did you get excited thinking about everything you wanted to do or to have?
Well this is actually a question for God. What can I do that would please you (God). Did I just pop your balloon? If so, this is a clear indication that we have our priorities wrong. Trust me, I am guilty of this myself as my personal list was long...
Proverbs 16:7 When a man's ways are pleasing to the Lord, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him.
How often do we want to put ourselves first or find ourselves getting upset when we don't get our way? This is another indicator that we need to change our ways.
The question we need to ask ourselves is are we trying to please ourselves or God? When we put God first everything else falls into place.
Philippians 2:3-4 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interest of others.
How do we know what is pleasing to God?
These Bible verses tell us. Romans 12:2-3 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will. For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you.
Another way to please God is to enjoy every moment he gives us! We need to give 100% to what we are doing, whether it's our jobs, cooking, cleaning or spending time with our family. We should not allow our minds to wander during our quiet time with God either. It sounds simple right? But how often do we have our to do lists running through our minds? Giving 100% may feel taxing at first, but once you get in the habit of doing it, you will realize how much richer your life will become because of it. It allows us to become the devoted moms & dads we want to be and allows us to do our best which also pleases God.
Our challenge is to give 100% today. Try it!
When your kids are talking to you put your phone down and give them your undivided attention. When God puts something on your heart, follow through because you will be blessed by doing so!
Let me know how your day goes and if you felt different doing this! Was it easy or hard and say why...
Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
