What Do You Take For Granted?
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
With all the fires that were happening around us I quickly realized how much I took fresh air for granted. You don't even think about it until you no longer have it. That is true for everything though isn't it?
What do you take for granted?
I think about those who have lost their homes due to natural disasters such as hurricanes or floods, tornados or even fires. One minute they are sheltered and have a warm place to sleep and within an instant they are left with nothing, everything has been taken from them. I have never lost a home so I can't even begin to fathom what that must be like for those who have experienced it, but we can assume it's beyond devastating and catastrophic to go through and will have a lasting effect just as any loss would.
Galatians 6:2
Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
When you witness others losing their homes or witness their lives being turned upside down this should stir up a deep compassion within each of us to help those who are struggling. It should also make each one of us drop to our knees and thank God that we still have our homes and to be grateful that God spared our lives during the natural disasters.
Ask God how you can use the gifts he has given you to help others, as the saying goes we should walk a mile in each others shoes. Put yourself in their place and think about what you would want someone to do for you, I hope this encourages you to support those who are in need.
Matthew 7:12
So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.
Do you ever take Jesus for granted?
Think about all the times when we do not make him a priority in our lives and yet when life falls apart we run to him, he becomes our 911 call. When life is going good we fail to honor him and praise him.
Our challenge this morning is to praise Him continuously, in the good times and bad, look for the silver lining!
Think about how can you make Jesus a priority in your life, what are some ways you can include him in your daily walk and how can you create a more intimate relationship with Him?
If Jesus is apart of your life I hope you will share what your daily practice is in order to help give others some fresh ideas that would help them build a stronger relationship with Jesus!
Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.
This morning I encourage you to take a moment just to say THANK YOU for all that you have and for God's hand of protection.
Let's begin each day with a grateful heart and start thanking God for everything we take for granted so that we can be mindful of how truly blessed we are.
Remember some people are praying for the very thing you take for granted.
