Walking By Faith
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
Can you think of a time when you had to walk by faith? Perhaps you are walking in faith at this moment and are wondering where God is leading you. I encourage you to read the testimonies in the Bible of people who walked by faith just as you are doing now.
The Bible has many great examples of people who walked by faith and not by sight. They trusted what God put on their hearts. Joseph married Mary knowing she was pregnant with Jesus, Abraham was asked to leave his country, Noah was told to build an arc, Daniel was put in the lions den, Abraham was asked to sacrifice his son. Imagine yourself in their shoes, how would you have responded? Would you have been as faithful? They trusted God completely and stepped out in faith even when their situations were uncertain.
2 Corinthians 5:7 We live by faith, not by sight.
I can think of numerous times when God asked me to trust where he was leading me and to trust what he put on my heart even though I didn't understand it at the time. I trusted he would take care of us financially when I was in between jobs after 9/11. He asked me to trust him when we moved across the country and again when our son died. I didn't understand why Nathan had to die at such a young age, but I knew in my heart that God had a purpose for it and I trusted he would help me through that devastating time and he did. Nathan's death taught me valuable lessons that I would have never learned had I not experienced his death, but I would certainly give it all up to have him back again, but that was not part of God's plan. When you walk by faith and keep trusting God is there in the midst of your pain, you will see life altering transformations take place.
Matthew 17:20
He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."
I couldn't see how anything good would come from Nathan's death, but years later I am now able to see how God has used that tragedy for good.
How has God brought his goodness into your life when you faced difficult times?
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
I love the song "There was Jesus" whenever you are struggling to walk by faith I hope you will notice Jesus. Listen to the words of this song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=37wV6D49iEY
In the waiting, in the searching
In the healing, in the hurting
Like a blessing buried in the broken pieces
Every minute, every moment
Where I've been or where I'm going
Even when I didn't know it
Or couldn't see it
There was Jesus
Friends, I hope you will find a renewed strength with this message, keep walking by faith and continue to follow God's plan even when you don't understand it, there is a purpose for everything under heaven!
Ecclesiastes 3:1
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.
