Turn Burdens Into Blessings
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
This morning I read the #12 devotion in Lysa Terkeurst's Devotional book called "What Happens When Women Say Yes To God" the title is called "If It Were Easy, It Wouldn't Be Worth Doing." Hmmm....speaks volumes doesn't it?
Lysa's devotion goes hand in hand with the video I watched this morning with John Voigt. Tucker hosts explosive interview with actor Jon Voight on faith - YouTube where John gave his testimony about God in his life. At one point he was struggling in all areas of his life & said out loud "it's so difficult" and he heard a voice say back to him "it's supposed to be difficult" and in that moment he realized he was not alone and that everything is known. God knows everything we are going through.
John realized this voice was telling him not to give up and that there was a purpose and that he had a ways to go. He talked about how God knows every bird that falls, which means he knows that about us too. Can I just say his testimony was exactly what I needed to hear along with Lysa's devotion. Once again, God gave me the same message twice, which is how I know he is speaking directly to me.
How does God speak to you?
I know he speaks to each of us differently, so I encourage you to stay open and be willing to pay attention. There are no coincidences, everything is divinely orchestrated, I am such a believer of this.
Matthew 10:29-31
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Hearing John's testimony and reading Lysa's devotion definitely gave me a fresh perspective this morning. Like John Voigt said, "we have a ways to go" how true that statement is. When you are dealing with heavy burdens on your journey, keep the right perspective! Just like the devotional's thought for the day says: "Purpose and perspective lead to perseverance that is evident in those living a truly devoted life."
Romans 8:28
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
Lysa's devotion prompted me to think about how can I turn my burdens into blessings and how can I be successful while dealing with the burdens. Her devotion reminds me that "the persistent person eagerly looks to handle trials and struggles in a way that honors God and allows personal growth." What a great reminder friends.
Galatians 6:2
Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
The Bible is FULL of reminders that when we take our burdens to the Lord, he WILL sustain us! Don't give up, it's time to take a deep breath and say "I've got this because God is with me."
Psalm 55:22
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
Friends I hope this message encourages you to keep walking in faith, even when you don't understand your circumstances or challenges that you are facing. God is faithful to those who follow, stand strong and know that God is fully aware of all you are facing and He is right there beside you, strengthening you each day!!!
Matthew 11:28-30
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
