Trusting Wholeheartedly

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

Abram was a great example of someone who trusted God wholeheartedly.

When God asked Abram to leave his land, Abram followed Gods orders. Genesis 12:1 The Lord had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you. Then God asked Abram to sacrifice his only son Isaac. Genesis 22:2 Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about." So Abram built an altar and just as he was about to sacrifice his son God stopped him. vs 12 "Do not lay a hand on the boy," he said. "Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son."

Can you even fathom what must have been going through Abram's mind? I think I would have wept for days after that experience! I'm curious what your reaction would have been?

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

How many of us live with an earnest commitment to God?

Friends, we need to ask ourselves if we are living by faith and trusting God. If not, we need to determine what is preventing us from doing so.

Is God asking you to trust him with a situation?

I encourage you to take some time to write your answers down. List what you do trust and what you don't trust, then determine the whys for each. Sometimes when we can visually see our answers it helps us to understand what is blocking us from trusting Him wholeheartedly and it will give us the opportunity to change our thoughts as well.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

This reminds me of when we lived in Michigan & I started to have an unsettled feeling as if there was something more we were supposed to do. I felt compelled to move. We trusted this and sold our home and moved to California.

I can honestly say the unsettled feeling disappeared and I instantly felt content. I knew without a doubt God was leading us here. I am overwhelmed by how much God has blessed us here, especially with all of the wonderful friends who have become like family to us. It's been a humbling experience and I am grateful.

Friends what is God asking you to trust him with?

Can I encourage you to listen to what God is putting on your heart and for you to trust his plan wholeheartedly?

Ephesians 2:8-9 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.
