There Is Another In The Fire
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
As I sit here looking at the fire blazing in our fireplace I think about how comforting it is to know there is another in the fire with us! Have you heard the song "Another In the Fire" by Hillsong? If not, I've included the link for you https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCzY-gyup70 the song just really spoke volumes to me as I seem to find myself standing in that fire. Yesterday our worship team sang this song at church and I instantly found myself flooded with emotions & tears, hearing their beautiful voices made it even more special for me.
Daniel 3:22-25
The king's command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace. Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, "Weren't there three men that we tied up and threw into that fire?" They replied, "Certainly, O King." He said, "Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods."
It's fascinating to me how grief can be so unexpected, sporadic and yet predictable. Every year I find myself overwhelmed with grief around this time of year and the interesting part about it is that I don't even think of it and all of the sudden I find myself overwhelmed with sadness and as I begin to think about what brought on the intense emotions I realize what time of year it is...
It's in that moment of realization that I find myself taking a deep breath as I allow the emotions to surface yet again. There is something sacred about sitting in this uncomfortable space.
I love the words of this song "There is another in the fire, standing next to me" what a comfort it is to hear those words and to be reminded that God is with me. God is so in tune with what I need, I love the Godwinks that he sends to me before I even realize I need them.
For those of you who struggle with the death of your children or loved ones I hope this song will bring you comfort to know God is standing with you in that uncomfortable space when the emotions are too much to bear.
Friends what fire you are standing in?
No matter what difficulty you are facing know that God is standing with you in that fire!
Daniel 3:28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, "Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king's command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.
Father, I would just like to ask you to be with all those who are grieving and all those who have experienced the death of a child. Father there is no greater pain, you know this personally as you experienced the death of your son, the thought of losing your child for the sole purpose of saving us from our sinful lives is incomprehensible. Father God, thank you. Thank you for loving us so much that you gave up your only son for our sake. Thank you for reminding me that you are in the fire with me. I just ask you to give me the strength to continue on my journey you have laid before me and I ask you to strengthen to those who are dealing with difficult times as well. In Jesus name, Amen!
Friends as the song says "I'll count the joy come every battle cause I know that's where You'll be" my hope is that you too will count the joys come every battle because you know that's where God will be. Wishing you a peaceful day!
