There Is Always Two Sides
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
You've heard the saying there are two sides to every coin or that every story has two sides right? Well life also presents two sides to every experience as well, whether we experience joy or sorrow, right from wrong, light versus darkness. Life is not always easy because we will experience hardships at times. But we can make a conscious decision to be positive because no matter what we face God gives us the opportunity to experience peace even in the midst of our painful experiences.
Philippians 4:7
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
What does it mean to have God guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus?
Does it mean we have his protection over our thoughts, emotions and actions? Remember, whether we speak positively or negatively those words have the potential to change our hearts for good or bad.
Take inventory of your thoughts, if they are negative I challenge you to immediately list five things you are grateful for and thank God for each. It's just like seeing the glass half full or half empty we have two sides to our thoughts as well, which side will you choose?
1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.
Begin focusing on God's goodness because this can make all the difference in how you live your life going forward. What we dwell on matters, don't allow the devil to hold you in this pattern of negative thinking.
James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
I love this Bible verse as it shows us that all we need to do is ask God for his wisdom in every situation.
During my peer coaching session we discussed when we say yes to something or someone it means we are ultimately saying no to something else. I never thought of it that way before and yet it's so true! She reminded me that we should always check our motives and determine if what we are saying yes to is actually what we should be doing or if we are doing it to please others.
The lesson for all of us is to be mindful of our thoughts and actions because they all have the ability to give us positive or negative experiences. When we stay true to what God is putting on our hearts we will never be led astray.
John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world, Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."
