The Unpredictable Moments
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
There are so many uncertainties in life wouldn't you agree? We deal with accidents, natural disasters, or even a negative health diagnosis and how we respond to them is critical. Too often we try to handle situations on our own, we make excuses or try to justify why we don't lean on God. Yet God is always asking us to relinquish control and trust him with the unpredictable and uncertain moments in our lives.
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is being sure of what we hope for
and certain of what we do not see.
This morning I was enjoying watching a storm roll in, hearing the rain fall was nice because we rarely see rain in the summer months. But what followed those peaceful moments was thunder and lightning which started a whole bunch of fires throughout the area. It just reminds me how unpredictable life is, we never know what is going to happen from one moment to the next. We need to become better at surrendering our frustrations, worries, fears and insecurities to God because it's the only way we can move beyond them.
James 1:2-5
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
Our challenge is to give God the unpredictable moments in our lives, ask him to guide us through each one. When we keep God front and center it allows us to live a peaceful life even in the midst of your struggles.
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
When you are facing unpredictable moments take a deep breath, ask God to be with you and surrender the outcome to him.
Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
