The Importance of Our Election

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

George Washington was spot on when he said "It is impossible to rightly govern a nation without God and the Bible."

Politics is something I have always tried to avoid talking about because it just seems to create a divide between family & friends who don't believe as you do. We seemed to have lost the ability to respectfully agree to disagree and still love each other despite our differences.

Watching the hatred that has unfolded in our country over the last few months is disheartening. People fail to realize by destroying other people's property does not help their cause, nor does it change anyone's view to match their own, in fact it does the opposite.

Which is why it's critical to know who you are voting for. Make sure you elect those who stand for law and order, knowing they will protect the American people against these hate crimes.

Romans 13:1-3 Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you.

The devil is working overtime to create havoc among us, but we need to remember that when we stand firm we can overcome it. I'm grateful to see people rising up and sharing their faith more openly while boldly proclaiming that God is still in control.

Matthew 24:7-14

Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

Our founding fathers were wise beyond their years because they predicted what could happen if you give government too much power, we can see it unfolding now with all the corruption we have with some elected officials. My prayer is that God will deal with those corrupt politicians and heal our land. May we never lose our freedoms or principles this country was founded on. When government goes against God's law may we never forget this important verse in the book of Acts.

Acts 5:29

Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than men! The God of our fathers raised Jesus from the dead - whom you had killed by hanging him on a tree. God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel. We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him."

First and foremost, never forget that we should always vote for the person who will defend and uphold God's law. Remember, no matter who wins the election God is in complete control and he is our ultimate ruler. When we keep this perspective it defuses our negative mindset, God's got this!
