The Greatest Ability is Availability
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
God is looking for those who will show up and be available to Him, does this describe you?
Friends, it's imperative that we take a moment to digest this question and take inventory of our daily lives. Are you someone who gives God excuses as to why you are too busy for Him or are you someone who says, "Here I am Lord, send me" despite what's on your schedule?
Isaiah 6:8
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying: Who should I send? Who will go for Us? I said: Here I am. Send me.
I have a challenge for you: Get a piece of paper out and turn it horizontally, write down Sunday through Saturday across the top of your paper creating a column for each day. Below each day write down what your normal schedule is (be truthful), log everything from the time you get up, to every time you eat, your screen time (phone, computer, TV, etc.) devotional time, work, exercise, volunteering (whether in church or in the community), and so on.
Now take a moment to see how often you have quiet time with the Lord (this means just you and Him, no distractions, no music etc.) is there enough space left in your day for you to be available to God? If you've realized that you're putting your worldly schedule above God than it's a sure sign that it's time to adjust your priorities. Take a look at your schedule again and see where you can eliminate distractions or unnecessary commitments and replace those with "God's time".
Take inventory (or journal) how this quiet time with God is changing your life. Are you noticing that it replenishes your soul and rejuvenates you? Does it minimize your stress? Do you crave more time with the Lord? The more time you spend with Him the closer you will become and in turn you'll begin recognizing His voice that is always guiding you and speaking to your heart.
I love what Psalm 32:8 says, "I will instruct you and show you the way to go; with My eye on you, I will give counsel."
When we tithe our time and talents God will use them to impact our life and those around us in spectacular ways. Don't allow the devil to steal your precious time, avoid getting to the end of your life with nothing but regrets and excuses of why we missed out on God's amazing gifts and the opportunity to share those with others.
Luke 6:38
Give, and it will be given to you; a good measure-pressed down, shaken together, and running over-will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.
