Our Unplanned Road Trips
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
It's hard to believe that my unplanned road trip has led me to the Bereaved Parents of the USA National Conference called "Healing On The Horizon" in St. Louis, Missouri, where I will facilitate my first workshop called "Grief: The Unplanned Road Trip" next week. Which is exactly how I would describe my grief journey "unplanned". I would like to ask for your prayers that God will speak through my presentation, that it will have a positive impact and bless those who attend. We never know where our journeys will lead us, but I encourage you to stay open and allow God to use your pain to help others, because there is a blessing in doing so. By me staying open I have felt drawn to create a workshop that helps the bereaved, I'm excited to see how God uses it!
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

Curt & I attended several BP conferences when our son passed away. These conferences have been instrumental for us as we were able to see that we were not alone in our grief and that we could find joy again, especially in the new friendships we gained from the conferences.
When you are surrounded by hundreds of people who can relate to the pain you feel, there is a special bond that is formed. What I remember most about our first conference is the last day because I remember thinking I didn't want it to end. I was finally among people who understood my pain and I didn't have to pretend that I was okay, I found comfort in that.
When I read this quote about a grieving mother it was a reminder to me that no matter what happens in our lives God will be there to strengthen us. He helps us put one foot in front of the other. Remember, no matter how slow the journey may seem when we are faithful in our walk, we will eventually see that we are much farther down the road than we could ever have imagined. Trust that God is with you and he will carry you when you are no longer able to walk. His guidance will lead you where he wants you to go!
Isaiah 41:10 "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
