One Day At A Time....
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
This morning as I was reading Chapter 1 in the book of James, and I was reminded that the testing of my faith is developing perseverance. As you know I was planning a women's camping retreat for the past several months and found myself having to learn how to surrender every obstacle we faced to prevent myself from being distracted & overwhelmed by them. By doing so God actually helped me stay focused.
James 1:2-4 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trails of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Last night I found myself in that same situation as our son's diabetic pump malfunctioned and we are now having to wait for a new one to arrive. He has a Dr apt next Tues with his new Endocrinologist doctor, and I started to think "what happens if we do not get the pump in time", because we need to download all of his #'s prior to the appointment in order for the doctor to verify if his numbers are running high or low in certain areas in order to make corrections. And then I remembered the retreat last weekend & what we learned, SURRENDER!!
Instead of getting overwhelmed with whether or not we will get his new pump in time I just need to stay in the moment and deal with it one day at a time. This song says it best....Lord give me strength and teach me to take it one day at a time.
If you find yourself becoming overwhelmed with the circumstances you are facing, I hope this message will remind you to take it one day a time as well.
Our lives are full of obstacles & challenges and each one is teaching us perseverance!
James 1:12
Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
Friends every time an obstacle appears remind yourself that your faith is being tested because it will help you keep the right perspective. You can overcome every obstacle with the help of God, we just need to ask him for his strength!
James 5:7-8
Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near.
