Nourishment For The Soul
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
When you think of nourishment do you immediately think of food nourishing your body? How about the people you surround yourself with, do they nurture you & help you grow spiritually? I believe the people we surround ourselves with can have an enormous impact on our lives, but it's also critical to recognize that only God can satisfy our true hunger and nourish our souls.
Matthew 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
Do you ever feel like you long for something, but can't quite pinpoint what is missing in your life?
When we lack contentment we often find ourselves searching for it in worldly things. We purchase a bigger house, new car or materialistic things only to find they do not satisfy us. We fail to recognize that we need is to be filled with the Spirit, just as the widows empty jars were filled with endless oil.
2 Kings 4:3-7 Elisha said, "Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don't ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side." She left him and afterward shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. When all the jars were full, she said to her son, "Bring me another one." But he replied, "There is not a jar left." Then the oil stopped flowing. She went and todl the man of God, and he said, "Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left."
How many times have we become like the disciples and question whether or not God can possibly feed our family or help us pay a debt we owe? John 6 talks about how Jesus fed five thousand people with just two fish and five loaves of bread. How quickly we forget that God can do the impossible, this means he can feed you when you don't have any food and he can pay your debts even when you do not have money, but the key is we have to believe!!
Friends instead of seeking worldly possessions let us turn to God and ask him to nourish our souls, ask him to take care of every situation you are dealing with.
Believe in your heart without a doubt that your cup will overflow with his abundance.
