Not Now!
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
Boy how times have we said these words? I'm guessing some of our kids might say "a lot" and they would probably be right. But the truth is, we should be saying these words to our worrisome minds, not our kids!
So often we tell ourselves to quit worrying and think we have it under control and before you know it we are back to worrying again right?
Who likes to be in control? Ah.....I bet a lot of us would raise our hands, do you agree? I mean, after all we DO know best right? 😊 I love what these verses say in Luke 12:25-26 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? What a great question! Why do we worry? We should read these verses several times throughout the day!
What we should learn to control is our worrisome minds instead of letting them run rapid with fears and uncertainties, we need to become more trusting of God.
Are you a worrier? If so, what causes you to worry?
The definition of worry: is we give way to anxiety or unease; allow one's mind to dwell on difficulty or troubles. Another definition is: worry refers to the thoughts, images, emotions, and actions of a negative nature in a repetitive, uncontrollable manner that results from a proactive cognitive risk analysis made to avoid or solve anticipated potential threats and their potential consequences.
I would also add that worry is our lack of trust. We don't trust God to handle our situation or to provide the best outcome. We fail to realize God is all knowing, he already knows the outcome. He knows what you are going to endure and how your challenge is going to strengthen you. Yet we still rely on our own limited human minds that cannot see beyond our circumstances. Why is that? Why do we have so little faith in God's ability to handle every situation? When we read about all the miraculous signs he performed in the Bible or all the people he has healed why would we NOT trust him? How can doubt possibly live in our minds?
Hebrews 13:6 So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"
Friends let's start telling our worries "not now" and start thanking God for taking control of our lives and for his continued guidance. Trust him!!
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
