My Journey Home
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
What a fun week it's been, we thoroughly enjoyed visiting our friends in Idaho. If you ever get a chance, I would recommend visiting this beautiful state! As we were traveling back home I began to think about how we are all on our journey home, to our heavenly home that is. Each day brings us closer to our final day on earth.
I'm curious if this excites you or makes you anxious? Do you have a lot to accomplish yet? If so, is there anything preventing you from doing so? When we stop to think about it we can all come up with excuses that prevent us from living the life we want right? Our kids are too young, maybe when they are older. I'm too busy to start something new? Or how about once I save up the money I'll be able to do what I want. Do these sound familiar?
Ephesians 5:15-16
Be very careful, then, how you live - not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
I was reading Jesus Life Coach learn from the best by Laurie Beth Jones & I wanted to share a part of it with you because it spoke volumes to me. "My friend Joe Mathews shared a poignant story with me recently. His best friends wife was diagnosed with terminal cancer and give a short time to live. Joe said he watched in awe as Dan and his wife, Christine began to live each day with tremendous clarity and love. When it was nearly the end Joe finally got up the courage to ask Christine the question. "What does it feel like to live each day knowing you are dying?" She raised herself up on one arm, and then asked him, "Joe, what does it feel like to live each day pretending that you are not?"
Friends, are you living your life to the fullest or are you still pretending that your time is unlimited?
How often have we said "Oh I'll get to that tomorrow, next week or even next month?" The thought we should have is I may not have another tomorrow I should get started today! Think about how much we would accomplish with that simple thought.
At any moment, the decision you make can change the course of your life forever. Anthony Robbins
When we begin living as if we are dying we learn how to live in the moment which in turn allows us to maximize and prioritize our time better.
So many of us want our lives to be easy and comfortable, yet that is not where we grow, not spiritually or otherwise.
Psalm 90:10 The length of our days is seventy years - or eighty, if we have the strength; yet their span is but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away.
So our challenge today is to think about our journey and what that looks like for each of us. Are we living comfortably? Do we ever step out of our comfort zones and take risks? Are we taking advantage of every opportunity God is giving us? Are we making a difference in the lives around us? Are we creating memories or regrets?
Life is short my friends, we need to get busy living! Don't allow excuses to keep you from what God has put on your heart.
Align your life with God's will and your journey home will be memorable one!
