Losing Connection With The Outside World
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
Well it's been an interesting couple of days as our cell phone service was knocked out by the fire near us, then we had no internet which was followed by no power due to crews working on the power lines for a couple of days, so I apologize for my delay in getting a message out.
Have you ever lived through a storm that knocked out power at your house where you instantly found yourself with no running water or electricity? Did you panic when you realized you didn't have indoor plumbing? Did you wonder what you were going to eat because you didn't dare open your refrigerator in fear of food spoiling. I bet you even felt lost without your electronics. If you were anything like me, you may have found yourself feeling unsettled and frustrated because everything you do involves a phone or computer.
James 4:8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Just as quickly as we can lose electricity due to a weather related storm, we can also lose our connection with God when we fail to rely on him during the storms in life.
Are you asking God for his guidance and strength or are you trying to handle it on your own?
When we stay grounded in his Word and rely on his daily guidance we are able to weather the storms effortlessly. You may think this is not possible, but when we surrender the storms they become manageable. God doesn't expect us to handle storms on our own, he wants us to rely on him for strength & endurance.
How are you staying connected with God? I hope you are allowing yourself enough time to hear his whispers.
James 4:10
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
