Letting Go
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
Today I was reminded once again how impeccable God's timing is, especially when he's trying to get a message across to me.
Our Pastor's sermon today went hand in hand with our women's Bible study that I was reading this afternoon so I thought I would share the insight with you.
Habakkuk 2:3
For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.
Our Women's Bible study is about Jesus in the wilderness and today's message was all about "letting go" I must admit it has been one of my favorite studies that I've done so far. It's called "Surrendered Letting Go & Living Like Jesus" by Barb Roose, I highly recommend doing this study if you're able.
Pastor Todd's sermon was spot on! Check it out Mt Lassen Community Church (vimeo.com) one part of his message was that we need to practice holy hesitation.
Have you heard the term holy hesitation? It's when we don't step back long enough to allow God to work in our lives or our family & friends lives. Does this hit a nerve with you? It certainly caught my attention!
John 14:1
Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.
By trusting and believing that God will take care of us this what allows us to let go of challenging circumstances. We need to remind ourselves that we don't have to jump in and rescue our family & friends. We just need to step back and allow God the time and space he needs. When we interfere we are taking away an opportunity for them to learn valuable lessons.
Now this doesn't mean we don't acknowledge what they are going through, we should validate their emotions & struggles but do so without giving advice. We need to wait, unfortunately most of us struggle with waiting because we want to see results immediately but God doesn't work on our timing he works on his own.
You may be thinking "but they need my help" and if this speaks to you I would tell you that you can help them without interfering, we help by praying for them and asking God to intervene.
Remember friends we are not in control, God is and so it's imperative that we trust his timing in all things and not rush in too quickly.
Our challenge is to practice holy hesitation this week! Let me know what it felt like to sit back and not respond.
Psalm 9:10
Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
