Leaving It All Behind
Updated: Jan 24, 2023
In the past couple of months, I have felt an urgency to share my life's journey with my boys because I want to leave behind all the Bible verses that spoke to me throughout my life, especially the ones that helped me overcome my various trials in hopes that these verses will help strengthen them as well.
As I've said before, Isaiah 41:10 has always been my "go to" verse. In fact, the times when I didn't think I could possibly overcome a challenge or move forward this verse reminded me that I was not alone, and that God was right there with me, and He was going to strengthen and help me through it. And do you know He was faithful to do just that with every single trial I've faced.
When I think about what I want my legacy to be or what I want to leave behind I think of my grandma and my parents living examples they left me, that is what I want to leave behind as well.
A list of living examples I want to leave behind:
1) Being a person who encourages and uplifts others. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 ESV "Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing."
2) My deep desire for having & pursuing an intimate and close relationship with our Heavenly Father. I want others to experience this kind of a relationship with God. Experiencing God is a great tool that will help you become closer with God. Experiencing God Book & Experiencing God Bible Study Workbook. Friends don't allow excuses to prevent you from having this kind of relationship because it IS possible! With our world today we are drowned out by so many noises and distractions that we don't hear God speaking to us and if we make Him a daily priority in our lives, we will begin to hear His loving voice guiding us and telling us what direction to go. Psalm 32:8 NIV "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." (another favorite verse).
3) Being compassionate towards others, especially those who suffer loss. Ephesians 4:32 ESV “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
What do you want your legacy to be?
My prayer is that you will make an intentional effort every day to leave behind a legacy that encourages those around you, one that inspires them to be more intentional in their own lives as well. We all leave legacies whether we plan to or not, everything we say or do leaves an impression on the world around us, especially our families. Every day is a gift and an opportunity for you to be a living example of P.E.A.C.E. use your Purpose to Encourage others and help them find Acceptance and Clarity with their situations by seeking God's perspective of them so that they can build up Endurance on their journey through this amazing life we've all been given!
As believers in Jesus Christ our Lord, our legacy should be one of incredible generosity of our time, money, and talents because God promises us that He will supply all our needs according to His will.
Titus 2:7-8 NIV
In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
