It Gets Complicated
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
Life can get complicated at times, especially when we struggle with following our own desires instead of following God's desire for our life.
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
I encourage you to take some time to think about your own life. Are things complicated for you at the moment? If so, are you able to determine the source of your challenge? Are you trying to push your agenda or God's? Think about how you can change your situation or your perspective of it, what comes to mind? I hope you'll share your thoughts!
Colossians 3:2
Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
I find that my life gets complicated when I am putting my desires above Gods. How many of you can relate? It's when God shows me that I need to surrender my control and ask for His wisdom to know what I SHOULD be pursuing not what I WANT to pursue.
James 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
Too often we allow distractions to keep us from pursuing God's will, so the question we need to ask ourselves is: "how do we move beyond these distractions when they arise?"
The best way I know how is to literally put everything out of your mind and to focus on the moment in front of you. But, first I tell the devil to leave and ask God to remove him from my thoughts, then I ask the question: What would you have me do in this moment Lord? What do I need to accomplish first? Second? Third? Then begin with focusing & completing the first task, then the second and so on.
Trust me friends, this is not always easy to do, but it is necessary for us to stay focused on God. Remember to pray for wisdom and to wait patiently on His timing.
Matthew 6:34
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
When your mind begins to wander or you find yourself distracted, immediately stop your thoughts and say "right now I need to focus on....." and by doing this, it helps keep the right perspective.
The devil wants nothing more than to continuously distract you to prevent you from following God's will so keep that perspective and you will be able to overcome the distractions you are facing.
I love Matthew 14:22-33 because it shows us that we need to trust God's timing in all things.
Psalm 17:5-7
My steps have held to your paths; my feet have not slipped. I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer. Show the wonder of your great love, you who save by your right hand those who take refuge in you from their foes.
Remember friends, life only gets complicated when we lose sight of the right perspective, God's perspective! Stay focused.
