In The Waiting
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
One of the hardest things about moving across the country is the fact that you are not close to family and when things go wrong you often find yourself in limbo or what I call the waiting period.
You're waiting for the call, waiting to hear the diagnosis whether positive or negative. If you are like me, at times you may find yourself feeling anxious & emotional in that waiting period as you begin to wonder what the future holds for you and your family.
Isaiah 30:18
Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!
If you do not live near family then I'm guessing you can relate to the challenges it brings to be so far away, especially when questions and emotions begin to rise up within you. But this is when God reminds me to surrender it all to him and by doing so he calms my soul.
Today I find myself in that waiting period, waiting to see what will unfold.
I'm curious what do you do when you are facing uncertain times?
I believe the only thing we can do is surrender, pray and rely on God's Word knowing He will strengthen us. Perhaps this is why Isaiah 41:10 speaks to me in so many different situations. I refer to this often because this verse is what God lays on my heart when I struggle.
It's where God says "Jill, I'm with you, I know your struggling" or when he says "Trust me, I'm here for you, I will help you and strengthen you." God's words echo in my mind when I begin to wonder what his plan is. Do you ever think "if I could only get a glimpse into the future" that it would somehow help you? I certainly do this, but knowing the outcome doesn't diminish the pain, when my dad was dying of lung cancer it allowed me to accept the outcome, but it didn't diminish the pain I felt after he was gone.
Isaiah 41:10
So, do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
If you find yourself in the waiting period I encourage you to rely on God's words of encouragement.
Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
