In the middle of the story

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

When we are in the middle of a story, how often do we find ourselves wishing it could be different than what is actually unfolding in front of us? Whether the story is a movie, book or even our own lives. Some may find the closer they get to the end of the story, the more they dread it coming to an end. I have certainly felt that way about a good book or movie.

Job 6:10

Then I would still have this consolation - my joy in unrelenting pain - that I had not denied the words of the Holy One.

Every person we encounter becomes apart of our story, whether our interaction is brief or whether they are apart of your entire story or just a chapter or two. Brief doesn't make their interaction any less significant, we still have an opportunity to impact their lives in a positive way. The shortest chapters can actually be some of the most rewarding and memorable ones. Just like books in the Bible, there are some books that only have a few chapters, but their message has the ability to impact our lives in a BIG way if we take them to heart.

Proverbs 6:20-22

My son, keep your father's commands and do not forsake your mother's teaching. Bind them upon your heart forever; fasten them around your neck. When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you.

Our son Nathan is one chapter in our lives that continues to impact us long after his life (chapter) ended here on earth. It was a chapter that we did not want to end, but because I have moved beyond that intense pain I've learned that new chapters do not diminish previous ones. Instead, new chapters can bring joy and laughter. By trusting God's guiding hand, I've learned valuable lessons from turning the page.

Where do you find yourself in the middle of your story? Are you trying to reread the same chapter or are you hoping for a different outcome?

Psalm 147:3

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

If you find yourself wanting to reread the same chapter, may I challenge you to turn the page in this chapter of your life?

Remember friends, God is still writing your story, He isn't finished with you yet. Allow God to bless you in the next chapter of your life.

Wishing each of you a peaceful journey!

Philippians 3:12-14

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
