If you can be anything, be a window!

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

You may be wondering why I would encourage you to be a window, so I hope you'll allow me a moment of your time to explain.

For years I have been mesmerized by light that shines through windows and glass doors. They have become some of my favorite photos to take, because they seem to have a quiet and yet peaceful story to tell, which reminds me of the way God speaks to us.

His message is a quiet subtle voice that brings peace in the midst of our chaos. Reminding us that we are not alone. We just have to stand still long enough to notice and recognize it.

Think of a time when you have stood in front of a window basking in the warmth of the sunlight. Do you remember the calm, peaceful feeling? Try it sometime...it's very soothing to your soul, think of God's peace washing over you as you stand there. When we take time to pause, we begin noticing God's little reminders that He is there with us. Allow Him to fill you with the warmth of His light.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

Today, I want to encourage you to be someone who allows God's light to shine through you, just as His light shines through a window and brightens up a room. Be that person who brightens up someone's day, do random acts of kindness for others. Remember, it's not about us receiving recognition, instead, it's about giving God the recognition and them witnessing God IN you. Matthew 6:3-4 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Friends, Let's look for ways to draw people closer to God so they too will desire a close relationship with our Heavenly Father so they can be filled with the warmth of His light.

John 8:12
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life."

I have always loved natural light coming through the windows (which is why I am drawn to homes that have lots of windows), it brings a sense of peace and calm to my spirit. I want God's peaceful presence and calm Spirit to shine through me so that I can be a beacon of hope and light for those who need it. Friends, this doesn't mean we won't have turmoil in our lives, but God tells us we can still have peace in the midst of it. Allow His presence to wash away your stress and anxiety. Each morning, take time to allow God's word to fill your spirit and begin witnessing how He lights your path.

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.

No matter what kind of struggles you are facing today, take a moment to picture God's light within you, now picture His light bursting through you. Just the thought of this makes you feel lighter, doesn't it?

The next time you pass by a window and the sunlight is shining in, take a moment to bask in its warmth and thank God for the reminder that His light is shining for you. Look for ways to brightens up the lives of those around you and allow let God's light shine through you...become a window and reflect God's love to others!

Matthew 5:16

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
