Extending and Embracing Grace
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
Extending grace to others is equally important as us accepting it.
When I think of the ultimate gift of grace, the Bible verse Romans 5:8 comes to mind. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
As Christians, we should put an emphasis on this verse & the sacrifices Jesus has made for us. When you receive the unmerited favor of God, know that He is saying, you ARE worthy of it. Let's reflect on Romans 5:8 when challenges arise, and remember to extend His grace to those who need it most. It's not for us to decide who is worthy of God's grace, that's God's decision. Know that He will make your wrongs right, but only if you are willing to surrender them to Him.
Ephesians 2:6-10
And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Once again God spoke to me as He asked me to discern the validity of my thoughts and to ask myself if I am I making assumptions based on truth or on past hurts. I knew in that moment I was not seeing the situation with fresh eyes.
If and when you find yourself thinking a situation is a certain way, have the courage to ask the person if your assumption is accurate & explain why you drew that conclusion. Communicating effectively with others builds our relationships and eliminates unnecessary frustrations & hurts, life is too short to waste time on misunderstandings.
Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
2 Corinthians 12:7-10
To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Amen! What a great passage to end with, I hope you are able to accept God's grace in your weakest moments and you are able to give it just as freely to others!
