Celebrating The Father's In Our Life
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
Happy Father's Day to all the dads and to all the guys who are roll models to young kids without dads, they are blessed to have your presence in their lives. I would also like to say a prayer for all the dads who are celebrating this day without their dads or their children this Father's Day.
Psalm 103:13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.
As I reflect on what it means to be a dad and the importance of having them in your life, I am reminded of how blessed our boys are to have Curt as their dad and how blessed I was to have my own dad.
Proverbs 3:11-12 My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.
Curt & Nic have always shared the love of sports and were both huge Red Wing hockey fans. When Nic was little you could say a players name & he'd tell you the # on his jersey or vise versa. As he got older he could tell you what team the player was traded to, he had an incredible memory!
Some of my favorite memories consist of watching Curt play roller hockey in the driveway with Nic & the nephews or watching him take the boys sledding around our property.
Nic & Curt have also enjoyed visiting different baseball fields, attending hockey, baseball & football games together. But I think a highlight for them was watching Michigan invitational basketball game in Maui.
Curt has always tried to get the boys to appreciate the outdoors by taking them hiking at different national parks.
My dad also loved sports and one of my favorite memories of my dad is when we watched him play fast pitch softball. I enjoyed watching him pitch and I loved hearing the guys call him Artie, it was the only time people called him that. Dad always enjoyed watching his grandsons play sports as well, whether it was basketball, football, hockey or soccer he attended them all.
What are some of your favorite memories of your dad?
I love the Bible verse Proverbs 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. This describes my dad as he taught us the value of having God in our life and how relying on our faith is a necessity. We were blessed to have his guidance in our lives and our kids lives too.
Exodus 20:12 Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
