Being Patient In Affliction

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

How many of us would consider ourselves patient?

Are you patient in all circumstances? If so, I commend you! May I ask what your secret is because I would love to know!!

Patience is definitely something that God has been working on me with and this Bible verse is a great reminder that no matter what we face in life we should be joyful, patient and faithful in our prayers. This week those prayers are needed more than we realize!

Romans 12:12

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

What are some ways that help you remain patient and hopeful?

Here's a few thoughts that came to mind.

1) When you find yourself thinking negatively about a situation immediately ask yourself 5 things that you are grateful for, by doing so it will help realign your thoughts with God.

2) Another way to remain hopeful is to meditate on God's word, lots of great reminders in there!

3) Trusting and knowing that no matter what you face God will use it for good.

4) When we persevere God blesses us.

Please share the ways you are able to remain hopeful during your trials.

Romans 8:25-26

But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.

As I was searching verses on patience I came across Psalm 37:7 and I instantly thought of the inauguration this week as I was reminded of all the corruption around our election. I know without a doubt that God will make the wrongs right and one day everyone will have to answer for their deceitfulness (regardless of which political party you voted for). We just have to be patient and trust God's timing in it all and to continually pray for our country.

Psalm 37:7

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

No matter what side you find yourself on when it comes to politics my only prayer is that whoever is in office protects the citizens of our country and realizes how precious life is. I pray they will fight for the lives of the unborn. If you find yourself unsettled by what is going on in our country I would encourage you to rely on God's words below.

As we wholeheartedly trust God's perfect timing, I pray that He will continue to watch over and protect us! May God continually strengthen your faith and your patience during these challenging times. We have lots of reasons to be hopeful, be patient with your journey!

Psalm 55:22

Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall.
