Be Mindful of Your Minutes
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
Minutes turn into hours and hours turn into days. How many hours and days have slipped by because of our procrastinating? When I think about it in this context I realize how I need to manage my time more wisely. Have you ever watched a video which led to watching another and another and before you know it an hour has slipped by? If so you are not alone!
We need to become mindful of our minutes so we don't foolishly allow time to slip by.
I love this list below as it is a great way to keep ourselves focused.
For some reason we seem to think we have all day or that we will live forever but that is clearly not the case. I love Pablo Picasso's quote "Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone" interesting perspective don't you think?
How many of you have seen The Shawshank Redemption movie? Do you remember the famous line "get busy livin or get busy dyin?" Friends we need to make sure we are living life and not allowing procrastination to rob us of experiencing all the life has to offer. At 81 yrs old even my dad said it goes by like a blink of an eye...
John 9:4 As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me.
Night is coming, when no one can work.
At times I have felt as though I just want to take a step back from living and just relax on a beach somewhere, who is with me? We need to remember it's also important to allow ourselves days of rest just as the Bible reminds us in Exodus 23:12 Six days do your work, but on the seventh day do not work, so that your ox and your donkey may rest and the slave born in your household, and the alien as well, may be refreshed. When we allow ourselves to enjoy quiet time alone we not only replenish our souls but we reenergize our bodies.
Jeremiah 31:25 I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint.
Make sure you don't confuse being "busy" with "living" they are two very different things. Busyness can be a form of laziness especially when it's not productive.
Our challenge today is to create a list of tasks that you have been putting off. Put the most difficult one at the top of the list. What? I know what you are thinking but trust me, once you tackle the most difficult one, you will be energized to keep going and each task after that becomes easier to accomplish!
I encourage you to get your kids involved, the more help you have the quicker you accomplish them!! And if you are like me, you would reward yourself with an ice cream cone when you are done! lol
What task have you been putting off?
Proverbs 15:19 The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.
