Be Intentional
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
What does being intentional look like for you?
Think about how can we live our lives more intentionally. For me this means being intentional with our time, words, thoughts, actions and even our spiritual gifts and worship.
Proverbs 21:5
The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.
Today as I was having a conversation with someone I was reminded of my dad and the many lessons he taught me and one of the thoughts that came to mind was when my dad said he hoped he helped enough people along the way. Trust me when I say I believe he accomplished this because he was always helping others.
Today his comment jumped out at me and it made me ask myself the same question. Am I helping enough people along the way? Then I began thinking about how I can be more intentional with everything I do.
I don't know about you, but time seems to be flying by, can you relate?
I've been trying to come up with creative ways to stay in touch with family & friends so I decided to create a prayer outreach spreadsheet. I know this may seem a little over the top, but it helps me intentionally pray for others, it also reminds me to reach out to 5 people a day. My intention is not to allow distractions to keep me from staying in touch because I treasure my relationships. I want to make sure I'm doing everything I can to share encouragement, hope and to simply just let them know they are important to me.
You know how it is, before you know it a day has flown by and you've ran out of time to reach out. I find myself struggling with the time difference as I'm on the west coast & my family is on the east coast. You would think I would have this down pat after being here for 7 years. Just when I think to reach out to them I realize they're already in bed and it's too late and I find myself frustrated because I missed another opportunity.
What are some ways you can be more intentional in your own life?
Take a moment to think about what you would like to change in each of these areas of your life. How you can be more intentional?
Your time ________
Your worship ________
Your spiritual gifts ________
Your thoughts ________
Your actions ________
Your words ________
What is your daily practice for staying in touch with others? I would love to hear your ideas!
Another area where I need to be more intentional is my time with God. Too often I have allowed the outside world to distract me and pull me away from my devotional time so I've decided that I need to change my morning routine. Is there an area in your life you need to change?
Friends, it's so important to be intentional with devoting our time to God and taking time to thank him for the many blessings that we have. I encourage you to do the same, make sure you are allowing yourself that quiet space with the Lord because you will be blessed by his presence when you do!
1 Chronicles 16:11
Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.
Isaiah 41:18-19
Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
I challenge you to become more mindful of your time and to be more intentional.
Have a great day!
