Be A Good Example
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
Have you ever thought of what kind of an example you are to others?
Think about that for a moment....think about how you react to daily challenges in your life or how you respond to difficult people or circumstances. Are you quick to respond negatively or do you become easily frustrated?
This question has certainly made me stop and think about how I react to situations in my own life, it's a humbling question isn't it? Well, it certainly was for me...
Colossians 3:16-17
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
Jesus was a great example to us all and our challenge is to follow HIS example.
We need to train ourselves to think of how Jesus would respond, by doing so it allows us that brief moment to pause. We can respond quickly & recklessly, or we can pause think about Jesus and respond with grace and patience. Each time we pause we are given the opportunity to grow spiritually mature.
Philippians 3:14-15 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. All of us who are mature should take such a view of things. And if on some point you think differently that too God will make clear to you.
The more we practice, the better we become at it, isn't that true in all areas of life?
I hope you will practice pausing and share how it felt, was it easy or difficult? Did you find yourself feeling proud because you were able to prevent yourself from getting worked up? Did you gain a different perspective of your situation? I hope you'll share your experiences and the emotions you felt.
Whenever you find yourself frustrated, I hope you will practice pausing because it really can change how you handle those circumstances. Just as I learned at our women's retreat when I say the word surrender out loud it helps me to look at the challenges differently instead of becoming frustrated by them. But it will require hard work, so I encourage you to stick with it!! Don't give in to the negative thoughts, release them & let it go!
1 Peter 2:21-22
To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."
