Be A Beacon Of Light For Someone Today
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
With so much darkness surrounding us these past few weeks it becomes overwhelming at times doesn't it? Trying to remain positive while dealing with isolation, not being able to hug our family or be with them is taking a toll on us. We witness death on a daily basis on TV, it's easy to see how someone can lose their hope. I'd like to encourage each of us to reach out to your family & friends, especially your elderly neighbors. Lift their spirits by giving them a call, everyone can use a friendly voice! If you are able to Facetime or setup a meeting such as Skype or Zoom do so, they will enjoy seeing your face. It truly is a gift to be able to see each other & laugh together during these isolating times.
Matthew 5:14-16 You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
For some of us the uncertain times bring depression as we feel even more isolated, parents find themselves frustrated as they are full time teachers on top of everything else they're trying to do. We can see how easy it is for us to get caught up with our own issues that we forget that others are isolated & struggling too. In these trying times we need to become a beacon of hope for our family & friends, let them know they know they are not forgotten, remind them of Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Sometimes we forget this I know I do, so take a deep breath and remember God is in control. Our situations are always teaching us something, what have you learned from all of this? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Romans 12:10-13
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
In times like these we have to get creative in how we can serve one another. Make a list of family & friends you have not talked to in a while and reach out to them! If you have a group of friends that hang together setup a meeting for all of you to talk at the same time, trust me you will be grateful you did!
Let's become the message of hope & the beacon of light that brightens their day!
