Are You Heeding Gods Call?
Updated: Jan 26, 2023
Every morning I pray for God's guidance with my messages and this morning the word put on my heart instantly was repentance! It was so instant that it caught me by surprise. What a powerful & humbling word for these times isn't it?
Acts 17:30 In the past God overlooked such ignorance,
but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.
Friends I feel like we are experiencing the Passover of our time and the angel of death is among us, especially as we come into holy week. Are you listening to Gods call? Are you following the order "shelter in place" (putting that blood above our door frames so to speak) or are you trying to find a creative way to continue living the way you want, perhaps you're tired of staying home or you are getting restless.
I admit I am going stir crazy myself and am tired of looking at the same four walls, but I also believe this is a time for prayer and for us to pay attention to what God is saying to us. 1 Corinthians 10:1-13 is a great reminder I recommend reading it. vs 11-12 These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come. So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!
How fitting it is that today is day "18" (my dads favorite #) that I have not left our house, is this because I'm fearful? No, I do not feel like I am living in fear, rather I would say I am fearful of not listening to what God is putting on my heart. I feel like he is speaking to us during this crisis and he is using a megaphone because we have ignored all of his other pleads.
Our times are no different than those in the Bible just prior to the flood, and I am surprised by what I have witnessed all over our country. People are still traveling from city to city, getting together with friends to socialize and have their cocktail hours etc. while "keeping their distance" and all I can think is "I can only imagine what God must be thinking right now." We have an arrogance about us, as if we are untouchable. We are encouraging other people to do the very thing we're not supposed to be doing. I think about the people in the Bible and how selfishly they lived and God destroyed them because of it. Genesis 6:17
How long will God overlook our ignorance & selfishness?
Several times I have thought about leaving the house, but than decided I cannot give in to my own selfish desires because that is exactly what the devil wants me to do. Of course I want to be with friends & if Curt was not here I would have to leave the house to pick up necessities. Our son is diabetic and the thought of him getting the virus because I decided to give in to my selfishness instead of thinking of his health first is just something I'm not willing to go through. Now if I've done everything I can to prevent it from happening and God allows him to get the virus somehow than I know it's part of Gods plan and not something I did carelessly.
2 Chronicles 7:13-14
When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command locusts to devour the land or send a plague among my people, if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
The question for all of us is are you heeding Gods call?
Acts 3:19-20 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you - even Jesus.
