Anxious Hearts

Do you find yourself feeling anxious with all of this sheltering in place? If so, I have a the perfect book for you, I've mentioned it before because it's THAT good. It's called "Calm My Anxious Heart" by Linda Dillow how many of you have read this book? If you haven't I highly recommend getting this Bible study! You can do it with a group of friends (via zoom or skype) or even by yourself.


This is one of those books you will refer back to from time to time, I already have! Today I'd like to reflect on some of Linda's comments that stood out to me that may be helpful to you!


Linda talks about how we need to have an Eternal Perspective, when we have God's perspective we view our lives and evaluate what is important from His viewpoint.


Philippians 4:11-13 I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.


Contentment occurs when Christ's strength is infused into my weak body, soul, spirit and we become more content when we spend time in God's Word and allow it to seep into our lives, transforming us to be like Him.


Linda also says "we must choose to accept our portion, our assigned roles from God. We must make the choice to dwell on the positive aspects of our role in life. If we don't, we'll be discontent, always wanting something different from what we've been given."


Psalm 139:16

your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.


As His servants we are not required to be perfect or successful - simply faithful.


Remember "The horizon is never visible in the middle of a dust storm. But we must have a vision that extends beyond tomorrow." When we worry, we're saying, "God can't." if we are walking in anxiety, we're not walking in faith. Quiet tension is not trust. It is simply compressed anxiety. Does this sound like you?
