A Sea of Clouds

Updated: Jan 25, 2023

For as many miles as the eye can see there was a sea of clouds out my window! I even loved seeing the tint of orange on the horizon from the sunrise.

I'm curious, do you enjoy the window or aisle seat when you fly?

Are you one to ponder life's biggest questions while looking out the window or do you enjoy immersing yourself in a good book?

If you are like me, you may even enjoy shutting out the rest of the world with a brief snooze (which means turning off my hearing aids) now THAT is pure silence! 😊

Truthfully I enjoy it all, a good book, admiring the beauty from above, and just contemplating the sheer magnitude of God's creation while simply praying with a grateful heart that my eyesight allows me to witness it all.

Flying is when I'm reminded of just how small I am in the grand scheme of things, yet with God I know I am still significant, valuable and worthy of his unconditional love because of the sacrifices he's made for me.

Psalm 19:1

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.

I must admit I ❤ flying, there is something special about being high above the clouds. It's as if we get a glimpse of heaven's vantage point, it's peaceful & serene to me. Witnessing a sunrise or sunset from up there is pretty remarkable as well.

If I wasn't hearing impaired I'd love to be a pilot because I just think it would be awesome to witness this vast beauty all the time!

As I've mentioned before I've always been drawn to windows so I enjoy taking photos of them, they seem mysterious to me as if they are quietly trying to share the outside world with you.

I envision the thousands of stories windows could tell as I think about the people who have stood or sat next to them. The elderly enjoy watching birds or wildlife from their kitchen or living room windows, while children wait anxiously for their parents to get home and others enjoy watching the rain or just simply basking in the sunshine.

Just like this photo makes me wonder about the people who sat here before me. I wonder if they were anxiously trying to get home before their loved one passed away. I think about how many people have secretly cried next to this window or all the silent prayers that have been shared while looking out this window.

Do you ever wonder?

Psalm 8:3-4

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?

The next time you fly I hope you are blessed to witness a sea of clouds in the sky and all the beauty they portrait. And I hope your prayers are answered up there as well because I can tell you God has certainly answered many of my prayers when I've been flying!

Wishing you a peaceful flight...

This quote reminds me of dad telling me he'd be sitting on a cloud with Nathan watching over me in California, can't help but think of him every time I fly now...a bittersweet moment for me.

I do enjoy the window seat too! The only drawback is having to bother other people to get up if I have to use the bathroom 🙄
