Updated: Jan 25, 2023
Are you a photography buff or nature enthusiast? If you are looking for a picturesque destination to visit, look no further than Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island in Maine! What a breathtaking place to explore, it offers adventures such as biking, hiking, kayaking & wildlife viewing just to name just a few. Trust me, you will capture the essence of God in your photographs as I found it to be an inspiring and serene place to visit, everywhere you turn is an opportunity to capture the splendor of it all, I can honestly say my heart longs to go back! I thoroughly enjoyed the area, not only is it a great place to reconnect and replenish your spirit, but the beauty that surrounds you is just awe inspiring!
Exodus 33:14
The Lord replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."
Cadillac Mountain offers expansive views of the Atlantic Ocean and all the islands in the Schoodic Peninsula, witnessing a sunrise here is a MUST! We had the pleasure of listening to a man play the bagpipes while we watched our sunrise, it was pretty amazing!
If you are driving to Maine take your bikes and kayaks! We were grateful we had ours, you can rent bikes and still enjoy the 45 miles of woodland Carriage Roads within the park and the stone bridges designed by John D Rockefeller, Jr. did you know these carriage roads are motor free?
If time allows make sure to take advantage of the kayaking opportunities as well, we enjoyed seeing bald eagles while kayaking at Long Pond. We also kayaked across the Jordan Pond to the Jordan Pond House where we enjoyed the delicious popovers they are known for, definitely a great place to enjoy lunch or a picnic outside as it offers beautiful views of the mountains called "The Bubbles".
During low tide make sure to walk along the sand bar or as they call it the land bridge from Bar Harbor over to Bar Island you'll appreciate looking back at the spectacular view of Bar Harbor. Make sure you pay attention to the tide times though as you do not want to get stranded over there. Last but not least make sure you drive along the one way Park Loop Road each stop offers unique perspectives of the coastline!
Hope you enjoy this National Park as much as we did, spending a week in the area would allow you to time to absorb what this island has to offer, we spent four days there and found it just wasn't long enough to enjoy it all so plan your time accordingly. It's a unique destination to visit because it offers a variety of activities, you can be as active or relaxed as you'd like to be. Do you love seafood? Than you will enjoy Bar Harbor as it is known for their lobster!
Acadia National Park will inspire you with it's endless beauty, replenish your spirit and your aspirations will be met with every activity you dive into. We enjoyed Acadia immensely, I'm sure you will too! Share your favorite Acadia experiences!
