Christmas Star
Updated: Jan 25, 2023
By chance, were you able to see the Christmas Star on Dec 21st?
Wasn't it amazing to see Saturn and Jupiter come together to form what they called the Christmas star? Talk about perfect timing, having it appear just when we needed a sign of hope after a long arduous year!
Matthew 2:10
When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.
It seems appropriate that God sent the Christmas star not only during a pandemic, but in the year 2020 when most people felt we would gain 20/20 vision. In retrospect, I wonder if they knew how true this statement really was because that is exactly what happened as we all gained a new appreciation for our lives prior to the pandemic and all the freedoms we had.
Seeing the Christmas star gave me a glimpse of what it must have been like for the wise men to see the star that guided them to Bethlehem.
Reflecting back on the beginning of this year I think about those who predicted that our lives would come into focus in some way. How many of you witnessed people focusing on their relationship with God as they realized how much they needed Him? Perhaps you were one of them, I know I was.
Others gained an appreciation for their jobs and the financial security it brought and how valuable it was to their livelihood.
We learned how precious our family & friends were when everyone was on lockdown and we couldn't see each other.
But even during these difficult and tragic times God sent us a reminder of the Christmas Star which reminds us that we can still find hope in Him even in our darkest moments.
Revelation 2:28
I will also give him the morning star.
By focusing on God every day, we gain clarity, strength, and a resolve that helps us push forward.
As the year comes to a close, I pray each of us will sustain the spiritual 20/20 vision which is a vision of God's hope!
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
